Section §23-9.6:1.4 of the Code of Virginia describing SCHEV’s duties states that student admissions policies are the sole responsibility of the governing boards of the institutions. With that in mind, an institution’s admissions profile is, in part, a representation of an institution’s mission and the mission statement is approved by SCHEV. This institutional profile can be highly predictive of student success at the institution. It also indicates the geographic origin of an institution’s applicants.
The reports below will allow users to view the admissions profile of entering students, the admissions requirements and admission trends by institution. Specifically, the “B08” reports include students who formally applied to a public four-year or private not-for-profit institution and completed the entire admissions process. These data represent the full academic year of an institution and captures the number of students who applied, were accepted, and enrolled at an institution by various demographics. Because these are annual reports, the various totals will generally not match those found in the fall headcount reports (such as the E2). The “B10” reports display the admissions profile of first-time in college (FTIC) students enrolled at a four-year public or private not-for-profit institution. The profile includes the achievement and aptitude test scores by percentile range, the minimum admission requirements by high school subject area, and the advanced placement tests and scores accepted by each institution.
Please note that public two-year institutions are not required to submit admissions data to SCHEV due to their open admissions policy and are therefore not represented on these reports.
