Guide to the Fall Headcount Enrollment Reports

Fall Headcount

Headcount data allows parents, prospective students and policy makers to view reports on a number of aggregated totals, compare institutions and reporting years for informed decisions on higher education. Headcount data allows for a wide range of measures for each institution using the most easily standardized type of reporting.

A valuable amount of data is collected for the headcount enrollment collection on each student.  For each student, attributes like gender, age, race/ethnicity, degree program, degree level, campus housing, course load and the student’s state of origin are collected. The data are combined and totaled to create meaningful categories of reporting over multiple years.

Using the links below, users can create reports and view and compare the results in a variety of ways, such as reporting year, institution, degree level, gender, race, and institution sector, to name a few.    Reports can be generated by selecting options to produce totals for public or private not-for-profit institutions and four year or two year institutions. Trends about the enrollment of new freshmen, new transfers, new graduates and new first professionals can be generated easily. Enrollment by state of origin and degree level, by students still in high school, and by first-time College students in a degree level are some of the measures available from the headcount data for each institution. Such measures can be useful in a range of decisions.
